A sunny, candid engagement photoshoot in Borough Market, London.
It was a gorgeously sunny, Spring, Friday evening when I met with Belinda and Andrew to take their photos and unsurprisingly the whole of London had poured out into their streets, pint in hand, to soak up the glorious rays. But as a candid, documentary style shooter, a busy street adds texture, interest and potential for more creative and exciting shooting so I was super up for the challenge of creating energy filled shots focussed on the gorgeous couple, but with the hustle and bustle of the London drinking hour.
Andrew & Belinda had opted for an engagement shoot to get used to being in front of the camera before their big day, to shake off those nerves and have one less thing to worry about in the run up and there's nothing like a busy market to really jump in at the deep end! We started on some quieter streets to get a bit of confidence, feel less watched and get into the swing of things but by the end of the session we were fully embracing the chaos and the crowds to get a fun 'we're in our own love bubble' feel to the photos.
These photos are some of my favourite, the sun drenched scenes, the candid moments, the energy and the gorgeous location with a definite street photography flavour. All the best ingredients to make engagement photos that stand out and capture those memories. I can't wait to shoot their wonderful wedding in Battersea.
Let's chat more about pre-wedding photoshoots:
When I shoot with you in the run up to your wedding we tend to pick a spot (usually with a great pub as a starting and ending destination!) and we'll start with a quick walk and a chat to the first location just to calm any nerves. We'll then basically have a play. I plan a circular walk (comfy shoes are essential. Thank you Lily Allen for making trainers and ballgowns a thing!) and we'll be silly. Outrageous accents, sexy vegetables, drunken walking, hip bumping silliness, all just to get the most authentic, candid, happiest moments out of you two. If you think i'm absolutely bananas from that list and you have no idea what I'm on about you'll just have to book a shoot with me to find out!
The circular walk will take around 30 minutes. I don't like to put you in front of the camera for too much longer than that because you'll a) run out of sexy vegetables and b) you'll never be doing couples shots for more than 15 minutes on your wedding day, you've got to have a chance to party and love your people! Then we'll finish in the pub, grab a pint and chat all about your wedding day. This gives you the chance to go over timelines, ask me any questions, quiz me on my wedding experience and we can nail down your start and end time for coverage and establish if you really want prep photos or if it's just something you feel you should have. Let's throw the rulebook out the window and make sure you're actually getting what you want rather than what you feel like you should want. Every person is individual and so is every wedding. I am always more than happy to have a chat, help you brainstorm and let you work out exactly what you want from your wedding photos.
Pre-wedding shoots can be booked as an add on to any wedding package just pop it in the contact form when you drop me an enquiry!
