Documentary style, candid wedding photography at Lauderdale House, London for Pat & Jess.


Jess and Pat wanted a beautiful, autumnal ceremony with flavours of their Australian heritage fused with a London vibe and they smashed it out of the park. They chose Lauderdale house, a beautifully understated community space surrounded by dreamy gardens with a ceiling of dreams and fabulous grand piano. They had their ceremony upstairs in the long gallery accompanied by live piano music and the most heartfelt vows I have ever heard. They were beautifully written, wonderfully delivered and the whole ceremony had everyone in bits.


WEDDING TIP: If you know your wedding is going to be a weepy one (the best ones are!) then do as Pat and Jess did and get yourself some beautifully embroidered, lace handkerchiefs. They photograph incredibly well and just add a bit of polish over a paper tissue!


After the dip kiss of dreams (Pat had been practicing after breaking an elbow! Now that's commitment!) and a walk back down the candlelit aisle, the wedding party and their guests headed outside for a multicoloured confetti throw, their group portraits and a super quick couples portrait session in the beautiful autumnal colours.


The surprises didn't stop there though. Pat serenaded Jess with 'The Best is Yet to Come' after a beautiful first dance to a jazzy arrangement of 'Once Upon a Dream' and a drinks reception in Lauderdale House's lower gallery.


That's where I ended my time with the couple as I waved them off to their dinner on an old London routemaster bus.


It was the perfect intimate wedding. I was with Jess and Pat for 3 hours to cover all the highlights of the day and here is what they had to say about choosing me as their photographer:
