Documentary, mid-summer, romantic wedding photography at Dorney Court, Windsor for Alex and Tom

To say Alex and Tom had the perfect day would be the biggest understatement of the year. Firstly, they picked one of my favourite locations - Dorney Court. (There is an on site garden centre so I always start my day here with an epic breakfast!) It's a gorgeous, historical Tudor building that provides a dramatic but intimate backdrop to weddings. It also boasts an incredibly beautiful chapel on site too for those couples looking for a church style ceremony.

For Alex and Tom, their ceremony was beautiful, with a sermon from Alex's father, it was really special, personalised and intimate. The church was full to bursting giving it an overwhelming aura of love and happiness that continued through the day.

After tying the knot, Alex and Tom walked out to a scattering of delicate confetti in the sunshine before heading for a drinks reception in the elegant great hall. Here guests were treated to a glass of fizz and toasted the happy couple who got to see everyone from the grand balcony. After enjoying the truly exquisite house the guests then enjoyed axe throwing, board games and drinks on the extensive lawns of the house. Now you know how much I love a lawn game. And the bin clad, axe battle that happened is one of the reasons I love shooting weddings quite so much. Scroll down to enjoy those photos!

Whilst the guests were brushing up on their medieval battle technique, Alex and Tom had their family shots outside the main house and a few artistic portraits using the backdrop of the restricted areas. The light was absolutely unreal and these portraits are majestic.

But that wasn't all. Food was followed by beautiful, heartfelt and expressive speeches in the coach house barn. Speeches are my favourite part of the day to photograph. It's where you get to capture true expression. No one is trying to look good for a camera, everyone is right in the moment, on the edge of their seats, the crying is ugly and authentic and the moments are magic. The more funny faces pulled, the better. The speeches for Alex and Tom were entertaining, beautiful and heartfelt and they really were the cherry on top of what had been a spectacular day.

There were a couple more tricks up their sleeves though. Alex had a second dress for the evening to suprise Tom with and they had secretly hired a mariachi band to kick off some celebratory dancing in the marquee in the secret garden. They were excellent, so entertaining, everyone was dancing up a storm and it got sweaty. But all the best dance parties do.

After the band had finished their set, we stole the whole wedding party to the lawn to capture the dreamiest of golden hours to play with some multicoloured smoke bombs and artsy shots. Here we ended up capturing the most romantic shots of the couple together as well as the wedding party putting a 10/10 effort into getting the dramatic smoky shots.

After that brief interlude, we headed back to the coach house barn to cut a multi-tiered 'cheese' cake - real cheese. Before launching into a first dance and the most epic dance party of all. A jam packed day. But one that I have thought about for months afterwards. It truly was special.

Have a look through the photos, sit back with a glass of wine and just enjoy. And if you fancy sharing your wedding plans with me then you can connect with me on instagram @beckywoodweddings.
